Well, I might agree with you in some sense, but for the most part I'd disagree.
You don't need to run anything except all-seasons tires on this car to drive it year round, but you'll see a distinct performance & safety boost when driving in any weather with the appropriate tire.
It all depends how people drive their cars. The S has quite a bit of lift at speed and can benefit from anything to counter-act that. I don't have a wing because I don't drive it (on the track or street) to the point that I am having concerns about the high-speed stability. Somebody else might.
If we had bigger tracks out here then I think you yourself would see the benefit of a wing, and would consider getting one as well. Our tracks don't really let you get up to any sort of speed, especially in a turn as they all seem to be more tight and technical which means more consideration for control of the balance of the car with braking, throttle, and steering as opposed to combating lift.

i just think that novices (which most of us are) need to not even think about a wing yet.
i have done 6 track days (seattle, cal, van x 2 each) along with lapping days at stratotech and namao.
while not all done with my s2k, i feel far too many drivers come with cars far beyond their abilities.
