Default Fedex Vs UPS

Ok, my question is why is it soo hard to get people to ship via Fedex from the states?? Everytime i buy something from the US its like walking on glass to get someone to ship via Fedex. Is there something making it more difficult to ship via Fedex to Canada than UPS??

I think it's because many companies in the States have a better deal with UPS if they make them their sole choice. Of course, shipping within the States is probable a good thing for them. It's international shipping that UPS is a sorry excuse for a carrier.
As long as a company has an account with UPS, it is more complicated for them to use something else. I will generally not do business with any company who cannot ship with anyone but UPS. I don't ever want something that bad.
If you have friends in the USA, have it sent to them using UPS. Then have your friend send it to you here using FEDEX. In this way, it can also be declared a gift and value it much less. Have the invoice and packing slip sent separately by mail.

Ok, will try that, however this was just a private sale, not through a company. Also, why would UPS have a minimum declarable value of $100?? That doesn't make any sense

I just tried to order some stuff from hardtopguy.com and the shipping charge was more than the product!!

All I was trying to order were some wiper blade inserts, oil filters and cabin filter... stuff I've ordered from them in the past.

Quite ridiculous!

If it's a private sale, they should be able to send it by whatever means you ask.
UPS shipping to Canada from anywhere outside is rediculous. That's why I boycott them. Not only do they have stupid rules but their brokerage fees will kill ya.

Dylan, don't go by what it says on the final "check out" page. They sent all my bumper stuff by FedEx (brokerage and everything was something like $84.00Cdn. for a shipment of stuff worth $800.00). Jeff told me that they just haven't bothered to put in the FedEx option for their shipping choices. You must write in the comments section at the end that you MUST have FedEx and then give Jeff or Joe a phone call to confirm when you call with your credit card number to seal the order.
The email confirmation will still show UPS shipping but be assured that when the tracking number is that of FedEx. I just about shit a brick when I saw my email. I phoned immediately only to have Joe tell me that my panic was unnecessary.

Thanks Dave. I went ahead and placed the order then phoned in my amex. They're going to make sure it ships out with fedex at a much more reasonable rate.

My order was just over $60 and shipping was over $80

I'm assuming shipping should be closer to $20 or so

God, I hope so. Maybe you should have asked for USPS on something that small?

Meh, either way. I'd rather overpay a bit on shipping from them, then go to the local honda dealer
