Default Gas Prices

Being in retail, I get a lot of people in here that comment about two things typically... the weather, and gas prices.

It amazes me how bad people think we have it here. It's as if $1.10 to $1.20 a litre is a horrible thing and that we're being taken advantage of.

Am I the only person that doesn't see it this way? Yes, it costs a lot of money to fill up the car, but you've got to pay to play I suppose.

I mean shit, look at what they're paying for a litre of fuel in Europe. I hope it keeps going up, maybe it'll keep some of the bad drivers off the road, or even better yet, maybe traffic will thin out a little.

People like to whine about things they can't control... gas prices, weather, politicians, etc.

How quickly folks forget that the government did lend a hand...even at $1.20 a litre, 400 Ralph bucks buys 333 litres of premium fuel.

I feel for the people who need to drive for a living but the majority of us could (should??) change our lifestyles so we use less gasoline. If we had an extensive public transportation network like most European countries then we may be better off.

I dunno, $1.20 seems kind of steep to me for the highway systems we have. Like they say 50% of fuel costs is government taxes and the price keeps rising, but the roads keep getting worse. Was just in the states last weekend and it is like night and day crossing the border. I think its an embarrasement for Canada. It is getting to the point where it doesn't pay to drive a sports car because you can't drive it anywhere. No wonder everyone wants to drive trucks, its the only thing that can handle our roads.

Which was quickly offset by the health care premiums we pay, which 8 of 10 provinces don't. Yay to the gov't for giving us back our money. BTW, it cost $45mil to administer the rebate. Something more meaningful like getting rid of health care premiums and the beaurcrats who administer collection of the money would seem like something a little more substantial. But I guess its easier to buy votes with a hard cheque.

With the right perspective, gas is rather cheap. Just take the time to reflect on how much a bottle of coke or pepsi has gone up in price over time.
Ever spent more than $5 a litre for coffee??
damn good thing the government isn't in on that.

Just tell people you going to boycot gas in protest. Guaranteed they don't say anything about gas prices next time
