The Lightning are only the flavor of the week. In two weeks it will all be forgotten. I think Tortorella was doing some with the referees.
Wow, somebody is in a bad mood. Granted Tampa isn't a "hockey" town, but I've been to Lightning games every year since I've been in Tampa, about seven years now. Been to at least a few games every season. I've always liked hockey and my home team.

The free beer isn't to atttend games, it's was done during one playoff game to get people to buy season tickets. I was at that game.

Tampa is much more of a football town. I don't know how you can say the Bucs stink. They've been to the playoffs more often than not in the last 7 years, won the Super Bowl a year and a half ago. Season tickets have been sold out for 7 years also.

Devil Rays are a different story. I like baseball, but HATE watching baseball in that stupid dome they play in. I've been to a few games there and didn't enjoy them at all. I grew up watching baseball in St. Louis at Busch Stadium. Now that's how baseball should be played. The dome we have just doesn't compare. Another reason that baseball hasn't taken off here is the location of the statium. It would take me over an hour to get there, since it's in St. Pete.

Now go cry and enjoy your hangover. Tampa has won a Super Bowl and The Cup in the last two years. How can you make fun of that? It's quite a bit more than your city has won.

Gotta give it to Tampa...they played great...Khabibulin was unstopable...but I'm so PROUD that Calgary made it this far. The better team won, but I'm super proud of my Calgary Flames. They played with heart and determination. That goes for Kipper as well, he didn't have the defence backing him up but he did the best he could and it showed.... Welp until next season whenever that is...GO FLAMES GO!!!

Props to the FLAMES!!!! They have made us all proud. Can't wait till next season.

BTW, I have a huge problem with the way that the American economy has taken over what is left of other countries culture. (not to insult an American of Course) But I cant help it to think that with the amount of money that the US has, it is inevitable that they will exploit whatever that makes money. ie, Boxing is now clearly a joke, and the NHL I hope does not go in that direction, as I am starting to think that it is. I think that the refs were bought out, and agree with Sutter that the NHL doesn't want the cup to go to Canada because it has more potential for generating revenue in the states if Hockey starts to become popular such as Football is there. Anyways, that's my two cents.

sorry for the run on.

I'm sure if you could see the attendance stats for many of the Amercian based teams there would be no worry about hockey becoming as polpular as Football, Nascar, or Monster truck racing....at least in the southern States.

BTW, I would find it hard to believe that the refs have been bought....they may have the odd brain cramp though.

The flames did far better than most any of us expected, so I'm pretty damn proud of them.

on a lighter note, this is laughable:

theres an old saying " if you win say little , if you lose say less, I think we all wanted the flames to do well, But lets not be sore losers, it takes away from Sutter and the team for the JOB WELL DONE !!!!!!

You know, I was heart-broken when the Flames lost last night, but when I saw that the Lightning's team captain and the MVP are both Canadian along with a huge majority of their team, that took a little of the the sting out of it. The Flames did do an incredible thing for this city though. I've never seen Calgary pull together like they did rallying behind their team these last two months. I've always been proud to be a Calgarian, now more so than ever.

Well, next stop is World Cup Hockey. Starting Aug. 30. The finals are in Toronto this year. I hope some of you guys out east are getting tickets!

Always a Flames fan,

Chris.
