Looking for something to do
Need to get suggestions on what to do in Calgary while waiting for our
connecting flight to Edmonton. As i've said in the topic we have 5 hrs to kill.
Preferably something close to the airport as much as possible
so we won't be rushing to get back.
This is for Thursday (7/28) and for a party of 10 people.
(Yes, the whole clan is flying home for a family reunion)

Given that you should kill about 1/2 hour getting off the bloody plane and then having to report back about an hour before the flight, that only leaves you just about 3.5 hours. This wouldn't be long enough to do the zoo or the Glenbow museum (1/2 hour travel time each way). Unless you're willing to pay for taxi fare for the bunch, it might not be worth it to leave the airport. Nothing interesting all that close to the airport except maybe the aerospace museum and display at the south end of the airport. The cab driver will probably be pissed that his fare will be so small, though, but tough if you really want to go see these.
There are lots of interesting shops in the terminal building that you can peruse and you can also take a walk over to the lobby of the adjacent hotel just to have a "look see". There's even a couple of bars in the terminal along with other eateries for the family atmosphere.

The zoo is in the middle of the Bow River on its own little island. It's about a mile and a 1/2 east of Chinatown. If you head straight south on Deerfoot and exit westbound on Memorial Dr., you'll see the signs. It's within 1/2 mile from Deerfoot. I'd say it would be about 20 minutes drive from the airport one way.
You'd have to wait 2 more hours.
If I wasn't working that day you stop over, I'd come up and be your tour guide.
Perhaps we should just rent 2 cars and start driving north and meet the
plane and the rest of the luggage @ YEG
