I just called the AMA and had them send the battery truck out. They install it, test your electrical system and haul away the old one. I think it was $101 all in. You do have to be a member though.

$101? That's not bad at all considering you don't have to go anywhere to get it done.

Speaking of batteries......my old '90 Miata, as far as I know, still has the OEM battery in it......I had it for 13 1/2 years with no issues although it was starting to get a bit weak....

It had a Panasonic glass-mat battery in it....similar to a gel cell. Some people tossed it out after decharging it and then trying to re-charge it at a fast rate. It needs to be re-charged at a trickle rate otherwise it will not take the charge. In short, a number of people threw away a perfectly good battery!

Is the S2000 battery a gel cell? My info is that they last a very, very long time....as opposed to 3 or so years for a std. battery.....

One replacement for the early Miatae was the Westco - check out http://www.westcobattery.com/miata.html

Doesn't appear to be an S2K battery there.....wonder if it is close enough in size????

No. It's a pretty standard, run of the mill, so called "maintenance free" type. Our OEM batteries are not anything spectacular. Generally, 3 years and toss them. Some go even sooner.

Is there any place that you can buy the panasonic batteries that come oem in most hondas?? Those seem to be some of the best batteries out there. My original battery in my 92 Accord lasted 9.5 yrs and since then i've replaced it twice because the shitty batterys wear out soo fast. I've never taken a close look at whats in the S2k, but i'm hoping its a panasonic. Its 4 yrs old now and still turns over like new.
