I could see that oil being used in a FI setup. Much thicker, but I don't think necessary for a stock S2K. I run Mobil1 syn 10W30.

I don't really see the point. 10W30 is going to give this car plenty of protection for our weather. Not to mention the stock oil pump probably would hate running 50

Is there a reason why you are even thinking along these lines, Harv?
You could use 15W50 if you were routinely tracking the car, but then, you would have to do several low rpm warm up laps to get the oil heated up. Thick oil like this, when cold, would pump extremely high pressure. This can be quite damaging to seals and small oil passages. As is, the standard 10W30 in cold weather can get near 95 psi. That's a LOT of pressure. A 15W50 could be over 100 psi during normal driving in cool weather.
A heavier oil like that is good for consistently high temp running but for daily driven conditions where you are having many cold starts, this might not be so good. If you did put this in, this may be one of the only times that I would advise sitting at idle till "3 bars" on the temp gauge, maybe even several minutes after you reach 3 bars.

While the 15W50 is a perfect fit for the oilcooled 911, I would not even consider it in the S2000, especially at our latitude.

thanks guys...Brady you hit it right on the head...I was wondering if I could use the same oil for the Honda and Porsche. You all have good points...I will stick with the 10W30.
