road trip it canada
The wife want to go north, to BC. My s2k has modified exaust, and a radar detector. will this be a problem? and whats the weather like in june or july? Thanks.
Weather-wise, you'll be fine. BC weather around June and July should be great. Probably anywhere from the 70's to 80's.
As far as driving up there, it's about a 13.5 hour drive each way (based on yahoo maps) if you're going from Woodland, CA (guessing that's where you are). About 880+ miles each way if you went to Vancouver. Take into consideration the amount of time you'll spend on the road, risk of tickets and accidents, mechanical breakdown, cost of fuel, your sanity, etc. Generally, women + modified exhausts + long road trips don't fair too well together unless you're one of the lucky few that has one that doesn't mind. I'm sure you already know the answer to that one.
If the two of you really love long road trips, go for it. If you fly, you might find airfare to BC for about ~$250-$350 per person. Check Expedia as they usually have better fares or even priceline if you don't mind flexible hours. A 2-2.5 hour flight vs a 13.5 hour road trip each way. It becomes a question of what you value more. Otherwise, enjoy the trip.

Being a "tourist", your exhaust and radar detector won't be a problem. I even think radar detectors are legal in BC anyway. As for your exhaust, again being a tourist, not a big deal. Just stay away from the street racing scene near Richmond and area as they were cracking down on anyone who had a modified car. With you, they'll see you're from out of town and as long as you weren't breaking the law at the time, they'll just let you go. A "local" (especially young guys) will get into possible guano just sitting there or driving around.
Weather should be mostly very accommodating with the odd chance of clouds and rain of which neither will be terribly unpleasant unless it lasts for hours or is very heavy rain.
Vancouver is still a great vacation spot but if you have the time, venture into the Okanagan.
Oh, you might want to post this in the Vancouver forum. I'm sure those guys will fill you in with more detail.

^^ Um, B.C. is pretty big eh? Travelling time and weather will depend greatly on where he's going.
Hehe, I did the Calgary to San Francisco drive last year. What a great time that was. But, being unknowledgeable and stupid, I went all that way and DIDN'T go see the Monteray Bay Aquarium, one of the finest aquariums in the world.
You're going to travel far. Find out some of the "must see" things before you go.
I'm a perennial tourist myself into BC. If you indicate where exactly you plan to go, I (and others) can point out points of interest to you if you don't know the area already.

WHAT?! You didn't see the aquarium?!?!

I haven't seen it either but then again, never knew it existed.
You had one long drive there! All in one day or did you do some sightseeing on the way?

Not in one day. It was part of a meet/drive with the Vancouver, BC and Washington S2000 owners last summer. That was a vacation lasting almost a week and a half. Also stopped in Portland to meet up with other S2000 owners, a stop in Ashland to see the Ariel Atom factory. All in all, a very pleasant sight-seeing trip.
Xviper, sounds like a great trip! Actually, looking back, I do remember seeing signs for the aquarium while driving around Monterey for an event at Laguna Seca.
