Snow day rant.
Well, I took the S out of hibernation yesterday for a potential track session today. Inpreparation I had to reinstall my interior as I was in the process of coating the chassis with SS spectrum (sound/vibration control.) and install the stock rims/ summer S02's (I had heavy 18's on). Drove the car around yesterday, all smiles!!! S2000>>>LGT.
This morning I got up at around 7am, it had rained. My buddy called shortly after saying there was snow in the Hamptons, but being that I squirmed out of work(helping out the wifesbuisness) we/I was dead set on going. My buddy showed at my place around 8:15, got my gear and we were off.
It was only raining in Simon's valley area, as we hit deerfoot it began to snow.
By the time we hit the calf rope bridge I probably hydroplaned four times and traffic was now at a stand still. Twenty minutes later and many funny looks from neighbouring cars later(tail went out everytime I started off) we finally passed Glenmore. Fairly smooth but slushy sailing from that point on. We are now on the final stretch (the small road to Race City), yes it wet out but Iwas still pumped and ready to see what my car can do.
Almost there, my friend (who I am following) calls and says he just saw the organizer guy drive the other way. We finally arrive , the gates are locked. We call the organizer, he says he had been doing laps for the last half hour and because no one showed (except us) and some standing water on the track, the event is cancelled. Fair decsion, but disapointed. We leave and see a Corvette heading towards Race City, at least we weren't the only ones.
S*** all that work for nothing, and the worst thing is I still ended up at work. Freaking Calgary weather (dumb ass weather forecasts). Finished work at about 2:30pm, no more snow coming down, we go for lunch, the roads are now basically dry!!! What the hell? I wish the track session was booked for the afternoon. The sad reality was that I wasnow on my way to put my S back into hibernation, this time for the rest of the winter
At least I got to rip it on John Laurie a bit, and again the S brought a smile to my face.
