I don't doubt that administrators are voluntarily plugging away endless hours trying to rectify the issues which we all speak of. On that note, I commend Yogi for visiting our humble corner and putting to rest some of the more troublesome issues.

I'd like to be able to help in any capacity possible, despite my lack of technical computer know-how. I guess, all told this thread was intended to display my lack of enthusiasm for the new format. Always of the adage "if it aint broke..." this new format was very much surprising to me, and I hope that is alone is not what causes me to drift away.

But it was broken.. this is what people are missing. We had no opportunity to fix things, to improve, we reached the end of the technical rope. This new software is different, and we need to get used to it, It would be easier to get used to it if it wasn't full of bugs.

Trust me when I say this is frustrating for alot of people. Even yogi, because yogi doesn't need me breathing down his neck when he is trying to study for finals

...and thats the whole issue. Well que sera sera I suppose. Again, as a non-paying guest, I don't think I'm in a position to complain, but it sure is a shame for those who have infact paid their dues

Interesting that you guys mention extensions, I was thinking about that earlier today. I think at least a 6 month extension on all memberships is called for. Of course, we'll write a script to do that, and it'll miss a few people

Seks - It's still there, click the blue 'Search' button on the top menubar. Once on that page, if you want more options, hit the 'More options' button.

You are so right! I see this as the major obstacle in this whole episode. It's unfortunate that the admins put the label of "membership" onto what started out as a voluntary "donation" to help keep the site running. True, labelled as "donation", the revenue would have been sporatic, but once you call it "membership", you've just crossed the line separating those who can overlook these issues from those who expect and demand "their money's worth".
I was perfectly willing and happy to make an annual donation and it didn't matter to me when they called it a membership. But I can see most of those who came later, viewed it as "customer satisfaction". Pity.
Yes, and the amount of work required to maintain/satisfy the memebers was seriously (IMO) underestimated. One example is the 'goodie bag' (forgot the official name) of stuff each member was to receive with their membership. I never got mine, but I don't really care. Most people that purchase membership consider S2KI a service and not just a S2000 owners club. I read a thread the other day where one member uses his S2KI email address as his primary address. With all the email issues we've been having, this guy has been left out in the cold. Most of the admins, moderators, and community organizers are worth their weight in gold. Unfortunately, that doesn't pay the bills.

I understand cthree's rush to get the product (the site) back out there, but I don't think he thought about how many people he's lose over it. It's sad to see the S2K community slightly tarnished because of that.

If you guys know any web programmers, send 'em my way!

Wow...I really don't think there is anything else to say! Although I'm just a guest for the past couple of years I do agree with pretty much everything that has been said thus far. The "Look and Feel" of this new version is quite cold and seems very generic in nature like many other common car forums. The previous version was perfect IMO. It had me visiting/positing on the site MUCH more then I do now...

I guess like the old saying goes...."If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
