Default Wheel Upgrades

Have any Calgary area members upgraded to 17" or 18" wheels? I am thinking of getting larger wheels but would like to see the difference between the two sizes before I take the leap. I have found a lot of pictures in other forums etc. but it is difficult to tell what would look best.

If you get larger wheels, make sure to get the right offset and sizes. I've seen an S with 18" and it didn't look nice since the offset was off. Make sure you asked around the board for a good offset before looking into brands.

I think the stock wheels are really nice already and only the real hardcore JDM type rims will enhance the S like Advans, Volks, and SSRs, everything else is a waste I think, probably real heavy too.

You also have to remember that 18's, doesnt matter how light it is, will always be slower than 17s I believe you lose about a half a car length to a stock S2000.....basically u have to balance out looks and performance.

I went with 17s. Its the best of both worlds....improved cornering feel, but not as good as 18s.....about the same acceleration as stock 16s...i think u lose like .1 or .2 in 0-60 times.

Here's a pic of my 17s

Thanks for the picture...they look good. I'm not too worried about my 0-60 times (would have bought a Camaro for that!) just want the car to look sharp. Are you in Calgary? If so, I wouldn't mind getting my car next to yours and seeing the difference between the 16" and 17" wheels. Thanks again...

I wish I could help you out there but i cant, just cuz im in Edmonton

....but if u come up, id be happy to ....honestly, I think 17s are the way to go....u get the looks u want and improved performance.

But, if its just looks u want, i can tell u that at stop lights or when im moving slowly through traffic, I get alota looks at the wheels for some reason, and not so much the car??? Weird, huh?

The picture there isnt great and it doesnt have the carbon fibre center caps yet but maybe its the center caps that get their attention? Who knows?

Just dont get my wheels, k?

Hey Doodlebug,
Are you in for our Calgary meet in early May? There are a few of us getting together for a Spring drive. PM myself, or talk to XViper for more details.
What colour do you drive??

Hello VTEXTC,

I mentioned to XVIPER in another thread that I would be interested in joining the group for a spring drive. I am away the first weekend of May but other than that I should be around. I have a yr 2000 Silverstone....no mods (except for a 4 point Harness for my son)....just plain Jane...although you can see that I am looking at changing my wheels.
