If you trade it in, you'll save the GST on the trade-in portion.

If the car you're buying is $50,000 and they give you $30,000 for a trade-in, you only pay GST on $20,000, saving you $2,100 in GST.

Factor that in when you're deciding how much more you'll get for your RSX selling privately.

To be fair, someone can go and buy a brand new RSX Type S for $30,000...

Your best bet is to try and return your car as close to stock as possible, and sell all of the extra parts for cash... www.dc5ab.com would be a good place to sell locally, www.clubrsx.com nationally, and to the US.

I assume you're addressing 4doorj, as my numbers were merely examples.

Jay, considering a Beyond member just picked up an 05 Type S demo (4500kms) for $29850+GST, you really have to re-evaluate your asking price;despite all the mods you have on your car. It would probably be more feasible for you to keep this car awhile longer. My two cents, I'm in the same boat with mine as well. However, mine has been in an enormous wreck, no one will ever want a car that's been repaired that extensively. I'm ready to lower the price of my car to $20K next July and take a $5K hit since my buyout is $25K and hop into a new S2000 then. Anyhow, good luck.

I've been down that road with the RSX. My '02 RSX was 7 months old when I traded it in, and I could barely get 25k + tax credit, from the dealer.

And that was back when the RSX was the "cool car to have"

I don't mean to sound negative, but I always like to remind people that they have to be realistic about their car's value.

They're (RSX) easy to get a deal on new, anyway... way back in late '01 I got my '02 Type S for $30k + tax
