I'm in for the 31st, just post the time (prefer the 12-5 or dusk slot due to my long drive!)

Yippee...another track day!

Regarding the equipment required, are there any helmet requirements such as DOT or Snell?

Also, a quick brief on the way the track works would be helpful - for example, does one just enter the track when ready (providing it's not congested) or are cars lined up on the starting grid and then given a green flag to do a number of laps? Is there minimum car spacing or other rules?

All info appreciated...

I figured I would just rev my engine at the stop light. If there's a chance I might run into people I may have to rethink this.

Very informal. No one will check your helmet or car. You should do your own safetly check, or ask someone else to help you.

No flags, just make sure you LOOK before you enter the track. Point for pass is typical, but occasionaly you will get impatient SCCA types who will pass you without a point by, or a novice driver who doesn't realize he is holding things up and doesn't give a point by.

Usually, the traffic is so light as to not be a problem.

What constitutes a point for pass? Does that mean we get a point for every time we pass another car? btw, no chance I can make anything but the sundown run.

Do they have a web site that describes the track and how to get there?

The North American Motorsports pages does, but the track map is outdated.

Here's a picture map from the Colorado SCCA site to which I added turn numbers and some locally known turn names. I also added some arrows for track in and track out.

I'll try to be there Wed night to show newbies the line. I have a few laps in there.

You point to your left to tell someone to pass on your left or you point up over your car to the right to tell them to pass on the right. Of course be in the opposite side of the track you pointed to pass on and slow down so they can pass easily (and thus safely before the turn).

Typically at 2nd creek you are only supposed to pass on the straightaway into turn 1, although a courtesy point by on the straightaway into turn 4 is OK as well as long as you are comfortable with it.
