Default Place to Buy?

I think I have to have a S2000! So where is the best place to buy one. I don't have to be in a hrry, so I can order one. Sales person at Ralph Schomp said they charge MSRP, whereas other dealers who may have 1 in stock are listing $2-5k over MSRP.

Who is the best sales person? Who has the best service (actually this is most important)?

Hope to have one soon.

At Schomp talk to Ed Sasko, he is the Sales Mgr. Tell him Vick & Mo sent you. He will treat you right!

Thanks for the comments/links. It is interesting now as several dealers are listing costs with a "Marketing Fee".

Fischer (boulder) $2000
Mile High (Denver) $5000

Maybe as we get into Spring and closer to Summer, costs go up.

Any expereices with service @ Fiscer or John Elway. They are closer to me, but I will driver further to get good service. I curently have a Lexus and drive out to Golden.

We also purchased ours at Ralph Schomp (as you probably saw in the thread Nin009 listed) for MSRP with no dealer handling and prep charge. Our sales person was Roy Taylor in the internet division and he was outstanding! What I really wanted to comment on was the service aspect. I just had my 7500 mile service and they did a great job! I had a couple of small warranty items to be taken care of and they did those as well and still returned the car an hour sooner than they said. The tech that worked on my car is Rob Lockey and he was excellent, and a very nice guy to boot! All in all, my experience with Schomp has been outstanding so far...keep in mind they offer a FREE 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the car if you do your service with them. So I second Vic and Mo...head to Ralph Schomp Honda!

BTW, Rob Lockey is an S2000 owner himself and is their S2000 specialist. You can make an appointment for your service and specify him for your tech if you choose.

Bottom line is don't deal with anybody other than the fleet manager, sales manager, or internet manager. Almost all other sales droids have a mindset of trying to extract as much cash as possible from the buyer, and quite simply, don't have the authority to negotiate.

Getting a deal at MSRP with no additional fees should be quite doable. $30,000 and $31,000 deals on new '02 where obtainable a few months ago (late winter) in the Chicago area.

Buying out of state is a possiblity if none of the local dealers have the car you want or are offering good deals. Should be able to get a car shipped here from CHI-land for around $700, so if they are much less expensive, still a good option.

I bought mine from Ralph Schomp (Dan Kaufman). He has sold me 3 Hondas in the last 9 months and the people there have been great. Ed Sasko(mentioned in an earlier response) was also very helpful. I placed my order in early May 2001 and when a red one came in, Dan called and asked me if I was interested. I really was not but thought I would drive from the CS area and look. It was beautiful and I bought it at MSRP. I had gone to several others but they play the mark up game. MILE HIGH was ugly as they suggested that their price on a Civic (for my son) was the lowest available. They even suggested Schomp. So, on a lark, I went there and bought my Civic from them last May(at $800 below MH price). Same mess on the S2000 at Mile High. They quoted me $37,000+ on a silver - I bought it from RS for 32,740. Team Honda in CS is one price but they have very limited inventory. In Pueblo there was a mark up.

Ralph Schomp: 1-800-432-4545 or 1-303-798-1500
Dan's Mobile: 1-303-591-9627

Tell him Vic put you on to him!

PS: When you need any work done see Rob Lockey - just ask for him and they will schedule your work so he can do it. He actually brought his S2000 to work one day and gave me a test drive. HE SOLD ME THE CAR - answered every question, let me stick my face in every portion of the car, showed me everything he had installed.

I purchased my '02 S2K at Frontier Honda in Longmont on April 20th. They sold it at MSRP which was good considering that Fisher was asking $1K above (if you live in Boulder County) and John Elway in Westminster was asking $2K above MSRP.

Marty (salesman) and Cliff (GM) were really helpful and friendly. I drove the S2K before buying it - they treated me like a valued customer whereas at Fisher and Elway it felt like they were doing me a favor just to let me sit in one.

BTW, I live in Louisville also so if you see a black one around it's probably me - or my wife who keeps borrowing it :-)

And finally, if there's any doubt left in your mind about getting one, then let me put it to you this way: I had a '00 Miata that was great fun but the S2K is the closest thing on 4 wheels to the Honda CBR600F I had a couple of years ago. What a blast!
