Hello everyone!
I'm very happy to find a local community of fellow S2k enthusiasts.
My issue. I'm looking for a recommendation on a mechanic than can install a clutch and ACT flywheel that I purchased. Just someone I can trust with my baby. I got my S2k last year and am the second owner. It's about time for a new clutch. I called a couple places and a dealership and found quotes of around $2000+. I'm not really in a place where that is something I can afford at the moment. I looked into doing the job myself and even bought a clutch kit and flywheel. Now it's looking like I won't be able to take the time to do the work. If any of you know somewhere that can do the work for less than $2000 that would be awesome.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome!

This forum section seems to move pretty slowly, I'd recommend posting in the Facebook Group: "Colorado S2K Owner", that seems to be the most active place.

Changing the clutch on an S2000 isn't that much different than any other car. About the only significant things is dropping the front subframe for clearance. Obviously it would be better if the mechanic had done it before so he doesn't have to learn on your car though. That said, you're probably best off looking for a good general purpose mechanic and then sending him a link to one of the threads here that details what's involved for the S2000. I do my own work so can't recommend anyone in particular.

You might ask around with the Miata community for a good mechanic in your area - cars are more alike than different for things like clutches. I know there are a few up in Boulder that are considered good for Miata - but that's pretty far from the Springs.
