Default Speeding Ticket in Oregon

O.K. another off topic question for all of you. My friend ask me to find a convertible Solara for his wife for their 15 year wedding anniversary. I found a 2006 Solara in Seattle so we bought a one-way ticket to Seattle and drove the car back stopping first in Boise then Salt Lake where my friend had some business than on home to Denver.

.....so going through Oregon I got a speeding ticket - 92 in a 65 in the middle of nowhere - $427.00! Caught by Laser. Does anyone know if I take a defensive driving course that Oregon will reduce or eliminate the fine? The Oregon State Police officer stated something to that effect. I was thinking that a defensive driving course might be fun. I'll take the S2000 for the driving portion and have a good time. Has anyone taken a defensive course before?

Lastly, I have to say that 92mph is safe in a 2006 model in the middle of nowhere on a straight road. But the revenue generating government thinks you will kill yourself. I have to laugh sometimes......

I can't help with your question.
But, I was heading towards Canon City on hiway 50 the other night.I was going about 95 and was just feeling like I wanted to keep accelerating. I didn't, and just up the road was a state trooper.Luckily I wasn't pulled over. I just want to let the car go sometimes, but don't, because I don't want to deal w/Johnny Law!

contact the DA's office in the court where you got the fine.

on the back of the ticket is there a plea reduction if you mail in the fine?

I looked at the back of the ticket and unfortunately there is no reduction in fines . I will call the court tomorrow and see what my options are.

Thanks.

Ive taken numerous classes in NE as ive lost my DL twice in my life. They have 4hr and 8hr classes here depending on violation. In your case if you were to take one it would be the 8hr for sure. They suck, but its worth it for the reduction in $ amount. Since its out of state it should not affect your points (if you have that type of system in Co). In NE if you take the class, it does not usually hit your insurance either. I dont know if id be willing to do such in your case as driving that far right now with gas prices, its not really gonna save you much cash imo.

I agree. If the court will reduce the fine or let me take a DDC in Denver to reduce the fine I will do it. I have a feeling that the great state of Oregon will take all my money and put it to a "good" cause. I will wait and see.

Thanks,
Todd

I just got back from Oregon. THANK GOD!!! for my Valentine 1. Sped the whole way. The V1 did warn me of a good dozen cops in Oregon alone. Colorado round trip to the coast of Oregon not a single ticket (average speed 80-90mph).

My "court" date was yesterday. I mailed in the ticket with a letter. No defensive driving course was offered but the judge did reduce the fine from $427 to $320.

not to bad consider the situation: 92.222 in a 65.

there is not to much you can do with laser but consider; re flash an existing radar detector and or purchase a new device?
