02 oem front bumper
So I recently bought an ap1 and one of the fake air ducts has been cut and mangled up. I'm currently planning on either an asm front or keep oem with the rsg gears front lip. If I end up going with the rsg gears lip will it cover up where the previous owner cut it?
Probably opened to install an actual duct to cool the brakes or as a cold air intake. Complete new OEM front front bumpers were commonly available to at least a couple years ago so you may find a replacement.
Is there a VIN tag on the bumper (visible with the hood open)? If this is an otherwise 10-VIN car I'd consider repairing the damage although I've no clue how it could be done. Obviously need to mask the VIN tag before the repaint.
There's a black rubber gasket between the front bumper and lower spoiler on my 2006 car so I'm guessing there's one on the earlier cars. Reproduction spoilers may not have the gasket. It came mounted on my OEM 2006 spoiler.

Yes there is a VIN tag number on the bumper when i open the hood. What significance does that mean? Fairly new around here and have never heard of this 10-VIN car talk. Also dwb933, thank you for the pictures as i haven't been able to find any to show the coverage of the lip as well as your pictures do. Dwb933, how did you install the lip? I haven't noticed the black gap between the lip and oem bumper like i see on yours.

10-VIN cars have all original body panels which can make them more desirable as there's little chance the car was ever severely damaged or body panels replaced. Should be VIN tags visible under the hood on the inside edges of both front fenders, on the door jam and door edges, hood, trunk lid, and the rear pumper. Ten (10) tags in all. May be a "10 or nothing" standard but the more tags the better. I have all 10 matching tags which provides a warm fuzzy feeling when other guys view the car.
The front bumper is a stone magnet and typically requires a complete restoration to get rid of the chips so the vent repair could be completed while the bumper is off. Faux vents need to be masked off and painted black. Mask the VIN tag to it doesn't get painted over (assuming it's the same VIN as the rest of the car). Good time to mount a front lower spoiler and get the paint matched/blended. Paint looks different based on age and the underlying surface. Can look different on the metal fenders and hood vs plastic bumper and front lower spoiler.

The black you see is the Honda gasket material used on all of the OEM lips. It takes up any gaps and makes the install look a lot cleaner. The gasket material comes in both black and gray from Honda. I chose black to match the other locations on the car where it is used -- specifically, the side strakes in front of the rear wheels.
Search Amazon or Honda parts for
Genuine Honda 08F03-SHJ-1100D Molding
It has its own adhesive already applied and is ready to go. If you choose the gray molding, it will be a different part # (which I do not have). You can order an installation kit for the front underspoiler from hardtopguy.com. It will come with all of the clips, screws and bolts needed to complete the installation. I used it on my Gears lip.
Good luck!

Wow...first I've seen that.
You can go here and build out what you need for install: https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-..._exterior.html
Look for anything that says "Front underspoiler component" and order the required quantity. You can also lookup the installation instructions for a parts list.
