Default $3,500 for replacement top?!?

Title says it all. I got a quote from a local dealer for $3,500 installed. Does this sound right for replacing my '04 top? Does anyone know of a reliable shop on Ventura County or West SFV that had it done for less?

Sounds high. Get some recommendations from your local subforum and shop around.

^^^^^^This
The OEM top is about $1080, you can find someone ALOT cheaper(and better) than the dealer for installation

You can buy an EZ on or robbins after market tops which are real nice for WAY under $1000. Install is not hard just takes time and a friend to help. If you need someone else to install it I wouldn't pay over $800 for the install. I also wouldn't pay anyone more than a couple hundred as I would just do it myself.

Or if you want a really easy install find someone selling a complete soft top with the frame and motors etc all attached. Swap in is MUCH easier than. Those sell for usualyl around $800 or so complete it seems.

That's an unusually high quote even for a dealer. It calls for 14 hrs according to the installation bulletin. $1200 for the top, and approx $1600 for the labor. You should post in your local subforums and see if there are any local S owners who could help you out.

I may be purchasing an '02 frame with ez on top (w/ defroster) today for $650. A) Is that a fair price, B) what kind of hardware do I need, and C) which interior panels need to be removed?

i would love to find a new top on a frame already.....its not the cost of just a soft top stopping me from getting a new one one, its the labor cost, and all the d.i.y's on the soft top make it seem too difficult
i am probably just gonna gut my slashed top and get a hardtop though,...its not like it cant be removed for top down driving,
