Advice Needed! Rust creeping in from bottom of car
Hey Guys,
Just need a bit of advice please! There's rust slowly creeping in from the bottom of the car and I have a feeling that if left it will spread quite quickly and get worse, What would be the best way to fix / stop the rust from spreading - I've never had to do this with a car before.
I've attached below a picture of the rust, Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Same place as mine and looks the same also...
knocked the rust of mine leaving a hole and painted the area to stop it spreading further.
Think the drain may have blocked at some point in history causing this on mine !!
Its on the jobs to do list
Thanks for the response, I think it seems quite common to get them in this area because as you say the drain hole gets blocked or the shield comes lose and traps dirt etc behind it!
So you think this could be a easy DIY job without taking it anywhere? Think it's going to be better sorting it sooner rather than later
Was thinking making a plate/s that fits inside the sill area & drilling holes in the original outer and a spot weld through to the new plate in lots of areas round it as needed,
Honda metal is So thin !!
I also have a welder
a skim over with filler, stone chip guard and paint.
under seal inside after, through the hole in the rear end inside the wheel arch <rubber bung> to finish
