Default ap1 ap2 silverstone paint

Whats up guys and gals! So I purchased an ap1 last year which has ap2 flared fenders (vin is still attached) and are a different color than the rest of the car. The fenders are a little darker and have less flakes (metallic) which is only noticeable from near and at a certain angle. Now my question is if theres a difference in color between ap1 and ap2 silverstone or if the fenders probably belonged to a Chicane/Synchro Silver Metallic in not sure about the chicane since I have never seen it in person and im not sure if they offered that color in the U.S. I am considering to respray the complete car but dont want to get the wrong color. Any info is appreciated

Definitely noticeable in that first pic. Chicane silver was offered in the US but only for the 2008 and 2009 model years, I believe. Anyhow, I too have noticed a difference in AP1 and AP2 factory SSM paint. My 2003 Silverstone and a friend's 2007 Silverstone:

I'd suggest having the whole car repainted or at least having the adjacent panels blended.

Thanks for your input. Whats wierd is that i checked majestic honda on parts like mirrors and tow hook bumper covers for ap1 and ap2 since those come painted when you order them and they both have the same color code which is nh630m. I think im just gonna go to paint store and have them color match the ap2 silverstone. I like the darker color better and Im not much of a fan of flakes which are much noticeable in the ap1.

Hey guys, I have a 2000 UK car and just had a facelift front bumper fitted. I am very unhappy with the result. It looks like a much darker shade of silver and all I can do now is stare at it and it's all I can notice. Is this a fault with the bodyshop or is there actually different paints on the early/late cars? Is it just as the bodyshop says that plastics will always look slightly off? I expect a slight difference but it just looks terrible to me.

from what i have heard silverstone is really hard to color match. I have gone so several bodyshops and they all say the same thing. But like we said in the older posts there is a difference between ap1 and ap2 silverstone although honda only gives one silverstone paint code. Wierd stuff. My car is at the body shop at the moment and since the guy doing it is a buddy of mine, we are gonna paint an old fender first to get the exact ap2 silverstone color (darker one). But i think you should definitely go back to the body shop and complain.

I've often heard that there are 14 different types of silverstone paint used over the years, all paints changed between the two different factories so you have to check the factory code on your VIN # , then you have to try and match the flake used in the paint. The paint shop should get some paint chips of differnt flake and try to match up the flake as close as possible.

The silverstone code has variations..best way to get it to match is to have a shop do a spray out of the variations and use the one that matches the best. If you're ok with blending, then that will be the best way to match. Remember that paint fades and oxidizes over the years too.
