I have a Singapore model AP1 (MY2000), which likely came with an original plastic rear glass soft top...however when I purchased the car (used) a few years ago, it came with rear GLASS in the soft top. Now I need a new fabric top and glass due to age and UV... when buying, do I purchase a soft top replacement for 1999-2001... or 2002-2009 ?

Is the soft top FRAME for plastic rear different from the FRAME for the glass rear ?

 

you can just get another glass top... in fact its common upgrade. Likely you already have two rear straps installed to support the glass and if not most upgrade tops come with them. Also one thing to check is that the tonneau cover clips (metal rivet looking things) right behind the seats have been removed so they dont damage new roof when its folded

 

So the top supplier informs me that 99-01 models have a different top sizing to 02+ models. The 02+ model top replacement will not fit an 02+ model or vice versa(?) I am curious as to the specific reason/sizing/design differences. Are the frames interchangable between generations?
