Default Soft top doesn't fold totally flat? *PICSPICS*

I did the DYI elastic strap for my soft top and guess what only costed me AU$20 for the whole setup (rivets gun, puncher, plier, etc) + around 2-3 hour.

But I am still struggling to get the soft top folded totally flat.

I can't get the front bar get as low as I can see on the Modifry's installation guide no matter how hard I pushed.

Then I realised this maybe due to the plastic rear window on early AP1 which is thinner than glass I presumed.

I'll post up pics of my DIY setup once I got back home but you know what I mean.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers

Youre doing something wrong. My AP1 with AP2 top folds perfectly flat. Dont keep pressing on it - it might be the glass not sitting properly, if you keep trying, the glass will shatter.

Make sure the first rib of the soft top frame is folding back (not forward) as the top is being lowered. Reach up with your hand and push the rib toward the rear of the car as you lower it.

did you remove the two center buttons that the tonneau cover snaps into. they are in located behind the secret compartment where the top stows.

It was folding flat before and this problem started after you made the elastic strap repair?

^^^ It is folding flat but not completely flat. It was even worse before I did the repair. I am referring to Modifry's images with the front bar can be pushed quite low.

How flat did you want it? can you take a picture of yours and let us see what you mean?

Also, isn't it winter in AU? During the winter the top material gets a lot stiffer so getting it to fold perfectly flat is nearly impossible. Try it when its >50 deg outside.
