pulled the bumper cover today to install the H, and to drill those holes and get everything installed correctly. While I was at it, pulled the fender liners off enough to finally change the front bulbs so I'm 100% LED now (besides the headlights ofc).
Fender liners are super hammered as are both front strakes so I'll be replacing them for sure sooner than later but for now at least everything is installed correctly - huge thanks again to @MeetThePete for finding that Japanese blog!
@kalm_traveler did you use the AP1 foam absorber behind the anniversary bumper? I just ordered the bumper from Evasive and I'll need to order the absorber since I don't have one. also, the brackets for the bumper that mount next to the headlights, did the new bumper include those? Also missing from my hobbled Ap2 bumper on my Ap1

Yeah I just reused my original foam piece.
The anniversary bumper has those brackets/tabs already installed. I didn't bring anything over from the original AP1 bumper at all - the hardware included with the anniversary bumper has everything needed assuming you start with a complete car in the first place.
Congrats and welcome to the 20th Anniversary club!
Replying to this thread for future reference. So I finally got around to installing my 20th anniversary bumper. I have an '05 AP2 and can confirm that while the AP2 liners are slightly different from that of an AP1, I still had to drill the same holes for the bumper clips.
Lining up the drill templates. Templates sit facing up on driver's side. For the passenger side, the templates are flipped the other side and placed opposite to the driver's side holes.
The final product:
For some reason I had a hard time getting the passenger side of the bumper to line up correctly with the headlights. All the bolts and clips would line up correct, but the bumper would keep rubbing the most medial tip of the passenger headlight. I ended up having to loosen the passenger headlight bolts to tilt the housing a bit but even then the fitment is still slightly "off." A little disappointed with the fitment especially since this was suppose to be an OEM replacement, but I'm hoping it's because of user error. I'm fairly certain I'm the first owner to take apart the OEM bumper. The car's never been in a fender bender as far as it looks.

I have the exact same issue with my 20th anniversary bumper and can’t figure it out to save the life of me. Exact same fitment issues as you… something has to be off; have you been able to figure it out?
