Blackout Tailight Removal

Does anyone know how to remove blackout tail lights from the S? when i bought my car it came with it and i have been wanting to remove the blacked out tail lights for a while, i just do not know how lol

my friend had it on his jetta headlights and he just wet sanded it and then polished them back up and looked brand new

I would have it sanded down and shoot it with clear coat and buffed.
