Default Can Sebring Silver Be a Bit Blotchy Looking ?

I had a guy paint my front fender on my s2k in sebring silver and it looked perfect. He then repainted my hardtop and the silver appears slightly botchy with dark shadows when you look at it from above from a certain direction only. He tells me that it is caused by the way the metal flake lays, he tried painting it twice and while it looks better it still ocurred on the second painting attempt. I don't mind it too much as you have to be above the roof to see it , it is a bit faint, and you have to be looking at it from one specific direction to notice it. I know this sebring silver colour has some dark pigments in it as well as the metal flake, and it can be tricky to match up perfectly. The overall job looks decent and the price was fair, I just wanted to ask if this makes sense ?. Anyone have any opinions on this ?, thanks for reading.

yes silver and gold are there worst colors to spray. the reason for this is because of the metal flake like you said, this is why body shops 99.9 % of the time have to blend these colors. it also could be caused by his painting skills with how wet or dry his sprays, air pressure and if the paint is reduced correctly. i guess it comes down to if ur 100% happy with the job. best of luck, hope this helps you!

ah thanks for the reply on this, great info, I do appreciate the feedback. I guess it could be a combo of all the factors you listed. I'm reasonably happy with the finished product, I know painting the top can be tricky. I hope to have the hardtop mounted this weekend and I'll see how visibile it is in broad daylight given the height of the vehicle etc..... . Thanks for the excellent info

$432 is a good price. I didn't take off the rear window, I know what they are talking about on the small inner lip, we got a bit of paint on mine as it wasn't removed but it isn't really noticeable as it sits inside the window frame area. Some of the initial imperfections that I was worried about don't really show up once it's installed on the car, it looks really good. I'm going to give it a good polish and wax after one month's time since painting. I'm happy with the overall result. I can email pics of the vehicle if you like, I don't have any close up shots of the top just of the vehicle.
