Sounds about right, my estimate was about 950$ to re-paint my bumper. Was that a phone estimate? Are they already painted and you want them painted another color, or are they coming in bare? Were they aware of that?

Seems a little steep, but more accurate for a re-paint
Say what?? That is a massive rip! An expensive good paint job with lifetime warranty on the paint is like 500 or so..
Got quoted about 300-450 by me. $1000 was a full front end paint job. hood, bumper, lip, fenders.

You get what you pay for - if you are getting a $500 paint job, I guarantee they are using junk paint and the results are likely less than stellar.

I'd rather pay more and have top quality paint used, no runs, no dirt in the paint/clear, etc.

Then again, I'm the type that expects paint to be flawless when just redone

just tell them to paint it and install yourself,
fenders are easy to install, just bolts around the door jam near the wheel,
and the engine bay

people are crazy here paying that much for a car thats prob street driver and will get damaged again. I know a good paint job on a panel can vary from 300 to 450 but more than that and you are getting ripped off

Just cause you pay less doesn't mean your pay for junk paint or poor quality of work done.

I guarantee you're ignorant. OEM quality paint and a 3 stage paint job isn't 500+.

Fail post is fail. I can get a pint of pure PPG/BASF/Dupont paint for $70 a can. Thinned down, that will yield almost a 1/2 gallon of quality paint. You can spray half a car with 1/2 a gallon. For what the OP is posting, $1000 would be a fair price, $1700 is probably a price from a shop that does a lot of work on high end cars/dealerships.

A full front end by me is about $1000 hood, fenders, front bumper and lip. Lifetime warranty on the paint and all as well. Seems to be about the standard price for that.

$500 to repaint a bumper is about right. I had the bumper repainted on my old accord for $500 and 3 years later the bumper looked immaculate.

Paying $950 to repaint a bumper is ridiculous.
