Hit-and-Run at work
Yikes. A second accident within the course of two months. This time, it was a hit and run. I parked my car in a relatively busy parking lot outside of work. On my way back to the car at the end of the day, I found the car had been reared by someone who was backing up. I didn’t see it happen. But now the car is damaged. The rear bumper has some scratches and the driver’s side tail light has been smashed. I’ve already spent a good deal on the car since I purchased it, getting it CR suspension, fixing the front-end after I hit a curb, and now I have to fix the tail light and rear bumper.
From the looks of it, Honda doesn’t sell these lights with the glass only – rather, it looks like I have to purchase the entire unit. Is this true or would it be possible to just get the glass needed to cover the LEDs?
Also, does this bumper look like it can be buffered out or would I need a new one?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The housing is plastic FYI (not glass) and unfortunately I'm pretty sure they only sell the entire assembly as a whole.
The bumper, if not structurally damaged (cracked), can probably be sanded and resprayed.
BTW, be careful because these types of things are known to happen in threes!

No cracks, thankfully. The bumper looks like it can be sanded - no cracks of any kind, just three scratches. After reading that article, I think I'll wait until I fix the bumper. I've already experienced the soft-top tear, not long after I purchased it. I've literally spent over 4k on the car since purchase - which is horrid considering I now don't have money for summer tires or for CR Sway Bars. I keep it garaged and try to drive it as little as possible. I don't even take it into the city because of the bumper-to-bumper traffic. The last thing on my mind was to worry about the car while it's parked in front of my workplace. ahh. Hopefully nothing more happens.
I'm currently looking for the entire unit - indeed, it seems that I'll have to buy the entire unit.
Thanks for the info!
