Default Massive hail damage

Whelp the s2k got the crap kicked out of it by Mother Nature. Had tennis ball sized hail hit yesterday. Damaged pretty much the entire car. Need suggestions for new hood, fenders and trunk. Want carbon fiber. Any suggestions on good parts shipped to SC?

Thanks.

I also got caught in this %^*&ing random ass hail storm on the way home from Greensboro NC to Columbia SC. I'm furious.

I'm looking into paintless dent repair. Looks like the pros can do a pretty good job. With my damaged areas it looks like it's going to cost me roughly ~$1k.

Waiting on the insurance guy to come give me the estimate today. I'll give you a run down of the damages.

That hail storm was absolutely nuts!!

Definitely take it to someone professional, and not one of the PDR chains. At the chain shops its really hit or miss, whether you get a pro or a junior tech.

It'd be best to find someone independent who does it for a living.

My car was repaired by a chain shop before I was the owner. They got very aggressive and careless with the tools, especially when working the hood and they bent up the access holes. They also drilled holes in the rear wheel wells so that they could access the quarter panels. This would have been fine, but they didn't do anything to cover the holes when they were done, so doing much driving in rain will allow water to get in behind the quarter panels.

I have a claims appointment with the insurance company to assess the damages on Saturday morning. The paint was obviously in excellent condition before the hail damage and the car is clean as hell so I'm just going to explain to them that I expect the paint and contours of the car to be flawless at the end of the repairs, wherever the estimate comes out at.

Already spoke with my agent and he says that even with $2-3k in damages that my premium won't go up by much at all, if any. He says that for his branch and my level of coverage that typically the premium wouldn't even go up

Your insurance shouldnt go up at all. This is a comprensive claim, meaning a no-fault situation. The fact that you are claiming insurance doesnt always mean a raise in rates.

Best of luck with your claim. It looks like my car is going to be a total loss. My roof actually got a hole from the hail. I didnt even notice it until i started driving aroung and it sounded like one of my windows was cracked open.

Ah, good to know. Sorry about your car, that's a shame. Had mine been totalled I would probably have just bought it back from the insurance company. How much was your car worth? Hard to imagine hail damage totalling up enough to total a car.

When you have to replace and paint fenders, doors, quarters, hood and trunk.. as well as a top if that was damaged.. it adds up very very quickly.

If the quarters are damaged enough that they can't be repaired then replacing them can be enough to total the car.

Total damages came to $6100. The top was kinda of the factor that pushed it over the top and totaled the car. For some reason USAA wants to give me 7K for my car. I explained that S2000's don't go that cheap. If the car is less than 8K it's salvaged titled. Now I have to send them comps from dealerships to prove my car is worth more than 7K. NADA on it is $9,250, so I don't understand where they are getting their figures.

Oh well it was fun car while I had it.

getting ready to deal with the same situation. fight for what it's worth, they want to pay out as little as possible. they've been taking your money for years on the gamble that nothing is going to happen. well it's time to pay up i say.
