Default Pitted Windshield?

It's almost as if the previous owner drove it through a sand storm? The entire windshield looks like this:

I haven't tried too much in fear of damaging the glass.. Has anyone encountered this? My other car sat outside for almost its entire life and never looked like this lol.

Any tips? Can that be buffed or polished out? Or do I need a new windshield..

What he said. Mine is the same way. All cars will do it over time, the cheap ones do it quicker. When the sun is at the right angle it completely sucks!

X2. Pits are not repairable. If the car was from NM it's common. My almost new windshield is all jacked up already!

Not really what I wanted to hear lol.. but it's the advice I needed. This car spent most of its life in Chicago, supposedly.

Clay bar is for removing residue off of a surface before buffing.
It won't fill in glass chips......

Well there is a way to repair, but I'll be doing next weekend (not tomorrow) and I will report on the progress. There's an alternative but don't know how much it will fix. BTW I'm in AZ so I know all about the problem you discussed...lol

So are there any options for this other than OEM that will provide a more durable window? Mine is absolutely miserable. A f@#king window should NOT be a wear item.

Actually the clay probably would fill in the glass chips if you use the right applicator....

....But then you'd have windshield with clay filled pits

Replacement is your only good option.

Mine looks bad too, 3 little bullseyes and a whole lotta pitting everywhere else, 166K miles
