Default RE: Painting Wheels

Took my AP1's stock wheels to the body shop they want to get them sand blasted before painting, is this the right process? I know if you do it yourself you just sand them by hand or with an orbital. I live in bfe where no one knows anything about s2k or body work or anything, I just dont want them to F up my rims!! Here is the process my paint guy wants to do: Sand blast, anticorrosive primer, base coat, clear coat. He is the expert here so I assume he is right, but just checking.

Is sand blasting ok to do on the aluminum wheels?

They should actually be using glass bead for blasting.

What is the advantage of using glass bead over sand for blasting to remove paint from aluminum? Will glass bead better prepare the surface to accept the primer being used?
