Default S2k Forbidden/OEM Hardtop paint schemes

Hey all,

I own a Forbidden hardtop and am in the works of getting it painted (by another awesome s2ki member!) in lovely laguna blue pearl.

As some of you may know, Forbidden made some slight modifications to the hardtop, so some OEM hardware will not fit. This means that the plastic black rim that is around the driver side door and passenger side door does not fit the hardtop.

Forbidden gave the option of having the rim painted on if you ordered it painted (which I didn't). Now that I am at a place to get mine painted, I'm having a really hard time deciding if I want to have a strip (glossy or matte?) painted around the windows on the top to truly mimic the style of OEM. I've searched high and low and only been able to find ONE documented case of this (that isn't a black top so you can actually tell) which is located here at post #264: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/969.../page__st__250

So my question is, do any of you have pictures or can link me to pictures of an OEM style hardtop without the black lining around the driver/passenger windows?

I'm also dabbling with the idea of taking the tape off around the windshield... which could be really interesting without the black window rim... Thanks!

I personally think a semi-gloss would be perfect as far as the rim goes.

Thanks for the opinion. After inspecting some higher resolution pictures, that appears to be what the oem style is. I'm still just lost on if I should have it or not. . .

I would definitely not do it if you're going to remove the windshield tape, I think that would look goofy. I'm of the opinion that most people wouldn't realize that the OEM top has that strip and then just think you got a goofy paint job.
