Default soft top roof

Hi all I'm new on hear so please go easy. My s2000 has developed a fault with the roof switch in that when I try to open the roof by pulling back on the switch nothing happens but yet when I push the switch forward as if to bring back up, the windows come down and I hear the motors kicking in, I have tried it with the engine running and without it running and it still won't come down, the handbrake is always applied. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong with it and is it likely to be expensive to put right. Thanks for your help in advance

Did you make sure to release the interior soft top latches on each side of the roof?

Also- pull up the center console and make sure the e-brake safety switch is actually making contact.

...(However if this was the problem, nothing would happen when you touch the up/down switch)

Hi, yeah all the fuses under the bonnet are fine for the soft top. The handbrake is on with the symbol on the dash confirming it to. Everything seems to work raising the roof but nothing when I flick the switch to try and bring the top down, I am stumped as to what else it could be. I know taking it to a main dealer will cost an arm and a leg.

Go to the dealer. Pay them for diagnosing the issue. Decide if you want to pay them to fix it. Their fix comes with a warranty.

It was the soft top control switch, just replaced it and its working fine only took me about 15 minutes. Think with all the rain we had the damp had got in and messed up the terminals on the switch, thanks for your help though guys
