super faded cf hood
The cf hood is super faded.
When I wash the car cleaning the hood, it looks nice and new when wet. I'm assuming I can just get a new clear coat job on it.
Do you owners have any suggestions with your experiences?
Thanks for you input on this.

There are a few ways to go about it, depending on how the hood was prepped. The most likely scenario is the hood was polished after it was made, and it hasnt been clearcoated, its just the resin or gelcoat protecting the surface. In that case, you should wet sand and have it clearcoated, that will help it maintain the look.
If its already been clearcoated, you should take it to someone who knows what theyre doing and have it buffed. Buffing isnt difficult... but its easy to burn through clearcoat!

Wetsand and buff properly will work wetsand and clear coat will work also. I tell everyone the exterior needs to be maintained just as much as your car mechanically. Carbon fiber stuff would last alot longer if it is polished periodically and waxed often. The hood the roof and trunk take the most damage from the elements the hood more so. On a hot summer day you have the heat from engine and the heat from sun beating down on the hood. Remember that all these carbon hoods are all chemical composites and it's not unusual for clears or resins to shrink expand or fade from seeing this type of abuse after years. After I even paint anything black after it's cured I am cautious in even leaving it in the direct sunlight.
