i have a very small crack above the passenger window, maybe about an inch long. every place is telling me i have to replace the whole top, and that patching it wont work well. i still want to be able to use the top, but they said it will just rip open/more even if i do get it patched. ive only had it for 3 weeks, but its an 07 and out of factory warranty. dealership said they cant really do anything for me. do i really have to replace the whole thing??

thats the same place a lot of us get the tear. i caught mine before it got that big but what i did was purchased some Tear Aid TYPE B (has to be type B for vinyl). I purchased it on ebay. Dont buy the kit but rather a large strip like the ones 3" x 12" and could get as much as you want so a 3"x24" would be good. what i did was cut it so that the strip extended past the bar so that over time the patch wouldn't lift from the constant rubbing on the patch edge. Also, I put a small amount of shin etsu grease on the patch so that bar slides over the patch much smoother. There are other ways to alleviate the problem but this has worked for me. I'll try and get a picture up so you can see exactly how i have it
