Default Touch up or respray?

A rock hit my front driver's fender about 3 inches back from the headlight and then bounced up and broke the windshield at the sun visor. I have full coverage and am getting an estimate. The body shop guy said he would respray the fender. The rock chip is about the size of a dime. Will a respray on just the fender look off? Would it be better to just touch up the chip? Thanks

What color is your car? If you can find a good painter I don't think it would look off if you get it resprayed. Touching up a chip doesn't usually last. It is kinda funny because I have a chip right by my headlight also. Its been bothering me for years but never got it fixed right, I just keep touching it up lol..

The car is black. The body shop quoted $2500 for respray on the front, new windshield, etc. The car is my daily driver and it had 15,000 when I bought it, 105,000 now hehe. I don't know if the work will show up on a carfax report but I don't really plan on ever selling it. It is way too much fun and paid for to sell.

With that many miles, I'd personally try to touch it up and pocket the cash from insurance....but that's how I roll, I'm cheap.

Any decent body shop would take a bit of the car into the paint shop and get the colour matched correctly. I would check with them if thats what they're going to do rather than just going off the paint code.
