Caliper rebuild - dust cover tips?
Hey folks, I rebuilt all my calipers recently and all went well except for attaching the piston dust covers. For the life of me I could not get those bastards to seat into the little groove in the caliper properly. I left them just attached to the pistons and they were burnt up after one weekend at the track. Before I dive back into rebuild #2, any tips for getting the dust covers to seat into the caliper? Maybe a few dabs of Locktite on the cover to keep it in place while I work it around the circle?

I rebuilt a set of PBR calipers back in 2006 and the dust boot was a major pain. I had to seat it in the caliper simultaneously as I pushed the back of the pistons past the seal. I have not tips... Other than patience.
If you're going to track again, I'd almost leave them out and clean them before every pad swap.

Yeah most of my miles are track or driving to the track. I wouldn't want to pull the piston out of the caliper all the time as that is a pain (and a waste of brake fluid), but if you can get it clean enough without pulling it out, I might just do that.

Yes... Pull the pads out, depress the brake pedal partially to get a clean part of the piston exposed and clean the piston before pushing back in. Pretty standard procedure with my Wilwood calipers that do not come with dust boots.
