Default CR suspension

Hey guys, I have a 2001 AP1 s2000. It has 17*9 wheels all around with 255 star specs rear and 245 front (wanted a little stagger) and stock suspension. I was wondering if I could put the front shocks/springs from a s2000 CR into the front of my car, replacing my existing shocks/springs. I would like to do this because I want to give my car more of a neutral feel with stiffer front springs and softer rear. I think the front CR springs are rated at about 384 lb/inches and my stock 2001 rear springs are about 291 lb/inches so this should give it a nice planted feel and more rear grip. Can i replace just my front springs/shocks with the CR ones and leave my rear stock? Will this work and improve my handling?

Thanks

Ok, has anybody done this? If so, does it help the handling and make a big difference?

I've never done this but I have had AP1 rear dampers and AP1 springs with one coil cut and Bilstein front dampers with their springs and I hated it, AP-1 dampers have a decent amount of rebound compared to Bilstein dampers and auto crossing with that setup was not fun.

I would run the same dampers all around and play with springs and sway bars.

Maybe try CR dampers and springs all around with an AP-2 rear bar? I think your rear bar is quite chunky compared with the rest of the rear bars that were offered throughout the years. Your front bar will be fine.

I have the CR springs and shocks all around on my 2003 AP1. I also have the AP2 rear swaybar in order to more closely match the sway bar ratio that the CR uses. Tires are Bridgestone REO1R in the standard AP1 sizes. My car feels completely different from the original AP1 stuff. The car is planted in the corners and is very confidence inspiring. The Ap1 suspension in high speed corners (mostly sweepers) always felt to me like "if your not careful I am going to come around on you". Not now. Solid and no twitchyness. I personaly think this is the way the s2000 should have been built from the beginning.

That is good to hear. I feel the same way on high speed turns and it is not very confidence inspiring. I am debating whether to just bite the bullet and get the KW V3's though because those seem to be the best for the money. How much is the full CR suspension not including the swaybars? Around 1300 with shipping?

I am not sure. Check Magestic Honda. I bought mine used with 5000 miles on them for 800.00. AP2 bar was 25.00

Up until recently, I had the CR front and rear springs on stock MY03 sways. Staggered setup AP2V1 rims on Federal 595 RSR tires. The ride height is essentially stock. The car handled much more aggressively at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway and Buttonwillow Raceways compared to the MY03 springs and shocks. The rear end was extremely aggressive even on a staggered setup up until I added an OEM CR rear spoiler, it helped get things under control a little, but the back end was still twitchy at limit. When driven properly though, the car was rewarding with respectable lap times.

ok thanks for the replies. I think I am going to actually go with Bilstein pss9s or KW V3s.
