Default How muvh clearance is enough?

I have 17" Volk wheels that fit over my 6 piston Wilwoods. They JUST clear. The front wheel spins freely when properly mounted and the lugsbare torqued. Can I consider myself in the clear with no need to run a spacer? Not sure if there needs to be a minimum tolerance.

Thanks.

About how much clearance do you have? I know first hand Brooklyn roads can bend Volks, so if the wheel bends and hits the caliper, you'll be in a world of shit.

Typical OEM spec is a minimum of 4mm. If you are THAT close, just get a 3mm spacer.

That's what I have. I was hoping to ditch it...

Do you track your car?

I have ~1.5 business cards width of clearance between my Endless caliper and my Prodrive wheels and they have never touched. I also track my car extensively. Your mileage may vary.

I had a set of 6 piston wilwood calipers which barely cleared my OEM 17" ap2 wheels while spinning sitting on jackstands. Well, first time i braked hard the calipers flexed just enough to contact the spokes and shoot sparks everywhere.

You'll need more clearance than typical with the wilwoods. have someone sit in the car and press on the brakes hard you can see the caliper surface expand from brake pressure.
