Default JIC FLT/TAR busted bolt, help!

Long story short the bolt on the top hat got cross threaded during installation. I was able to extract the bolt (which also messed up the female threads on the top hat) and I am now looking for options.

1.) Can I attach another top hat (oem perhaps?) onto the the JIC FLT TAR's?

2.) Should I just re-thread the top hat at a local machine shop?

3.) Any other suggestions?

Pics below:

Thanks!

Re tap at a machine shop would be your cheapest solution. They'll tell you the threads won't be as strong but the base of that taper bolt will be plenty strong enough to hold the top hat in place. So just to be clear re tap it with the same thread diameter and pitch as the existing bolt.

ah, you're the second one to say this... maybe I can have them weld the head of the bolt so I won't get loose... I say this because while I was trying to back out the nut, the threads were spinning with the nut thanks!

Steel bolt and aluminum top hat would be difficult to do.
Are you using a regular nut or a nylon lock nut?
