Default KW V3 installation Question

I have just ordered the KW V3 coilovers. While looking at the service manual, I noticed a special tool. (07MAC-SL00200) Do you need to do this for the installation?

I didn't look up what tool that is but you will need to remove the OEM strut tops which requires a spring compression tool or buy new OEM strut tops to put on the new coilovers.

No, you do not need to separate the ball joint to remove or install oem or aftermarket coilovers.

You won't need a spring compressor to remove the top hats on the stock suspension just lay it on the floor, put the top hat against your wheel that you took off the car and remove the nut with a wrench. It helps to stand on the shock to keep it from moving when you relieve the tension but even then it barely moves as the spring isn't under great tension.

I used this method when I installed my KW V3 and it worked fine.

I noticed that too in the service manual although everyone removes the A-arms instead. Does anybody have any idea why the manual would call for removing the ball joint instead? There must be a good reason why the manual would recommend that method.

Honestly, I think that's the "engineers way" to do it. As we all know, the engineers way is always more complicated and sometimes there's a simpler "mechanics way".
