Default Lower Shock nut size

So while installing my coilovers I somehow managed to strip the nut on the rear lower shock. So after much effort of removing the nut, I went to home depot to try to replace the nut but they didn't have anything that would fit. So what size is this nut? and is there anywhere online that I could buy it without being raped on shipping?

for stock suspension the nut is welded to the shock body. So if you are installing afternarket suspension, not sure what size the nut is as it depends on what the aftermarket company decided to use. I believe for most aftermarket, they use a 12mm nut. pitch would be 1.25 or 1.5 but i can't remember which it would be. Why not just take the bolt that goes through the lower shock mount into a home depot or Lowes and find a nut that fits on it?

I tried taking the bolt to Home Depot, but they didn't have anything there that would fit it. The size wouldn't change based on the company because they all give something that would fit on the OEM bolt.

I was able to find some at a local Lowes. Their fastener selection was much better than Home Depot. Maybe give them a try?

Otherwise, you can always order just about anything from McMaster-Carr's website.

Ah, it appears it is on the lowes site and not the Home depot site. Also found it on the Advanced Auto site. I'll check those places tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Are you talking about the nut that is welded onto the strut that the 12mm bolt (#17) threads into?
