Totally disagree.

Coilovers are complete waste of money and overkill for so many. There is ZERO reason to get coilovers unless you need the adjustability.

Read this. Tim is a 12-year Master Honda Tech, and an expert AutoX guy...

"As for handling and setting a car up for improved handling, there are a lot of things to consider when you choose a suspension system. First of all, the term coilover is a misnomer, All S2k's have a coilover suspension on them in the first place. That term just signifies that the coil spring is positioned over the dampener. The adjustable coilover by design, is so that the user can set position the ride height to their liking to set the roll center of the car. Once it is adjusted, the only reason to TUNE it is to corner balance the car for optimum handling. When selecting the springs, one must have really done their homework if they are choosing they're own spring rates. You have to take into consideration, roll control, wheel rate, frequency, front/ rear balance, motion ratio, etc. Now obviously, most people select a pre-determined spring rate from the manufacturer when selecting their coilover and leave the actual tuning to the manufacturer.

AFter selection of the spring rate, you then need to make sure that you have dampeners that are tuned to handle the spring rates to ensure optimum control. Otherwise, an severely over/under dampened vehicle will result.

There is a lot to think about when setting up a car for competition vs. street ride and comfort. A lot of different manufacturers have taken a lot of the guess work out of it and provide you with quality components that have been tuned for your cars.

I know that when setting up my CRX for competition, I had a lot to figure out and did a ton of research and still have a lot to figure out. Asking questions and reading a ton helped a lot with that. To those that have seen my car in action the can attest, the car WORKS. But it wasn't just a store bought kit... It was a lot of trial and error and I still make changes to try new things. A car in developement should never rest on its laurels. It should constantly be improved.

As for what I'm running...

I use Koni RACE valved and shortened single adjustable dampers with ground control sleeves and Eibach springs at 430 in/lbs. front and 500 in/lbs. rear.
Let me tell you, the ride on the street isn't the most supple or comfortable but on the track, the car is AMAZING. Of course the car is set up with no comprimise for autocross competition.

Alignment for any S2K would be my first and foremost suspension tuning mod. You would be amazed at the improvement that can be made with a totally stock S with just a more aggressive alignment...

Well, that's all for now! I'll stop my rambling on! If any of you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask me either here, by PM, or call me!! I'm always willing to help!

Cheers!

SO MANY people waste a TON of money on coilovers that just are not necessary...

But its gotta be "slammed yo!", and "hella flush"...so I guess coilovers are just too cool of an addition for me...

"Neuspeed Springs s2000" showed results in google images

But I love me some coils and would recommend them for the adjustability.

Springs matched up with some koni yellows works good too.

i have neuspeeds on my ap1, i dont see why there would be a difference for the ap2? are you asking if it will drop it more, or handle different because the ap2 has slightly softer springs from the factory.
