Default Ns400 sqeaky when cold

Just installed brand new project mu ns400 up front. Also did a brake flush. I started to notice that it's sqeaky when I first use the brakes after start up and when I dont use the brakes for awhile (highway, then exit). They quite down after being warmed up. I know this isn't no race pad but is anyone else experiencing this? I don't mind it actually but people tell me I need new brakes when pulling to a stop light because they hear the squealing.

Did you bed them properly?

I had a set of NS400's for the street (and a track day) and never had an issue with squeaking, cold or otherwise. I would re-bed them and you should be ok. If that doesn't work, you may have glazed the pads over and need to pull them out and run some sand paper over the surfaces.

As a side note, they were terrible on the track with heavy braking and I scorched them pretty bad. As such, I have moved on to Carbotech's for the track but I still have them on for street duties.

Exact same symptoms for my ns400's. I've re-bed them a few times and it always comes back. It doesn't really affect much, at least I've noticed. However, I'm not aware if there's a specific bed in procedure. Best I can speculate is that the pad sticks a little bit if you fit them with the clips and don't shave down the edges of the pad to have them move with more ease. I didn't trim my pads and I forced them in the stock clips.

I found the teal paint they put on the pad wings caused them to bind when in the calipers so I used a Dremel to grind this off prior to installation so that may also be the difference. The pads shouldn't be a sloppy fit in the caliper but they should be able to move by hand without much effort. Also I clean the metal retainers really well and put brake grease on the tabs to help them move and release from the rotor. My guess is, the pads aren't releasing from the rotor and are glazing over from heat.

For bedding procedures, I just go out to the country roads and do a few medium stops (40-45mph down to 10-15mph) with a small driving break in between stops to allow the pads to cool, then do a few heavy stops (55-60mph to 10ish) with slightly heavier pedal application, again with cooling time in between. Then let them cool for 20-30mins minimum and you should be good to go.

Thanks guys. I had to trim the pad a tiny bit to fit the pads in the bracket. I read a few others had to also. As of now its a tight fit since i didnt like the idea of the pad being too "loose" just in case. I didnt do any bedding/break ins but will try it later today to see if it works.

Nice cool summer morning and man did it squeak louder then usual! After a warm up, it was fine again. I really need to find somewhere to "bed" the brakes.

No issues with squeaking when I installed my NS400 on new rotors. I did use CRC Disc Brake Quiet between the back of the pads and factory shims and also used brake cleaner on the rotors to make sure there was no foreign residue (my new rotors were kind of oily from the packaging, also helps gets rid of old pad transfer material from the previous pads when re-using rotors.

Wait...people install performance pads and drive on them without bedding them in???? You guys are missing out. You could have just bought parts store pads to get the same result as a non-bedded performance pad.

Had my ns400s fitted three years ago, all good with lower than average mileage only that just now they've started squealing at low town speeds, plenty of bite still on them. Have been told that if their low it would be more of a grind whereas the squeal is caused by the pad material just happening to make noise when touching the disc at a certain speed (or within a certain band)
