Default Rigid Collar concern

I am looking to install Rigid Collars on my 06 and I'm trying to decide if I do it now while doing some other autocross prep or if I wait until after this season. I wasn't too worried about the install, but I've read some cautions about potentially breaking the subframe bolts, but I've found no evidence of this in any write ups. Has anyone actually broken subframe bolts removing them? If there's a risk I'll probably wait due to timing issues, but if not I'll probably do it now. Thanks!

I say go for it, if you have a few hours to spare for the install. Remember to undo the bolt for the steering linkage before dropping the front sub frame. Also, the copper grease if your collars came with it, go on the collars themselves. I put a little anti seize on my sub frame bolts when reinstalling. Plus there's a write up on sub frame bolts coming loose, I believe that the torque is increased around 10% over factory specs for reinstalling them. If you have pneumatic tools, that will help cut time considering the length of the bolts. If you autox a lot, you'll definitely notice an increase feedback from the chassis after install. For the cost of the collars, it's one of the best mods you can do. Let us know how you like them.

You could just see if each bolt will loosen before you really start the work. If it feels like some of the bolts don't want to loosen, that is your clue to stop before bolt breaks. No need to loosen any bolt more than lime half a turn. Just seeing that they aren't seized. Then you know you can take on the job safely or not.

Just be sure to retorque the bolts after this test.

I may just go for it. The suspension is entirely off the car so the subframes will never be lighter. I may just unbolt the whole rack and secure it to the chassis somehow.
