Which is twice what I quoted him and he'll still need an alignment, plus a small amount of rideheight adjustment isn't worth the shock absorber downgrade so common in the $1,000 coilover range.

If you were planning on doing a spring and shock combination, I'd recommend looking into a set of coilovers. Many of our coilovers systems are actually cheaper than a spring/shock combo with some of the sale pricings we have. The labor time for the spring and shock combo is usually a little more since you have to assemble the unit by compressing the spring and installing the upper mount.

If you're just looking to get the car back on the road, I'd throw in 2 new shocks and call it good. If you're looking for a adjustable performance upgrade, I'd spend a little extra for the coilovers.

Another vote on getting coilovers instead. Check out the Bilstein PSS9 and KW V3.
