Default Swift Springs on AP1

I have been searching on the forums and i havent been able to find out what i need. I want to lower my car just a bit to get rid of the big wheel gap. Seeing that the swift spec r spings are very popular on here i wanted to ask if it would be an upgrade at all to put on my ap1 with stock shocks. Or would I be better off being a set of proper coilovers?

2001 Spa Yellow
-AP2v2
-225/45/17 front
-255/40/17 rear

The spec r runs a higher spring rate in the front than the rear. This gives slightly more grip in the rear. In regards to feel, i say they are better than stock. in regards to cornering speed, i would say it is about the same as stock.

The drop looks good.

They are slightly bouncy on some roads.

Of course a proper coilover would be a better option if it is in the budget.

Exactly right... adding a stiffer spring without also upgrading the damping rate is going to cause "bounce". People who only care about going "low" and can't afford or won't be bothered with proper coilovers can be seen bouncing down the highway at any given time.

My opinion is either do the mod right or leave the car stock.

Spec r's are right on the edge of what a new shock can withstand. It'll wear an old shock that's lost some of its valving.

I had Swift R's on AP2 shocks on my AP1. The shocks had under 30k miles on it. The drop was nice. The ride IMHO was terrible. They handled great but ride was stiff and in time my front right started to bottom out. I daily drove the car up in NYC and found it torture on some roads and highways.. not to mention my lower back lol.

Depending on how you drive your car there are tons of options. If you are going to daily drive it all over nothing beats Eibach and OEM for the money. I have driven in a car with Spoon springs and those were very nice as well. It's not a horrible idea if you get new shocks with the springs.

my 2 cents
