Default For those with drilled rotors

I have been trying to diagnose a noise I have been hearing while driving. It sounds like its coming from the rear weels, however it doesnt sound like a bad wheel bearing, and there is 0 play in the wheel when i wiggle it.

I cant explain the sound.. except that it sounds like a locust or something when im driving. I was wondering if this may be related to the sound of passing around the rotors through the drilled holes.. as strange as that sounds.

hmmm, mine are quiet, perhaps your rear brakes are dragging a bit.

Did you lift the rear wheels when you were checking for play in the bearings? if you remove the center caps from the wheels, and go for a long drive, do the center of the hubs feel hot to the touch compared to the front?

Did it start when you touched the brakes? Its possible that one of the dust shields got bent. Those are the black painted thin pieces of metal that go behind the rotor. It could be that one is ever so slightly touching the disc while rotating. If its super light, its possible that your pads need shims, and it COULD be that noise, but I'm not at liberty to guess whether or not thats audible. When you back down a driveway with the engine off, you can hear brakes rubbing on any car, though its pretty quiet. When I switched from steel wheels with plastic covers to open spoked oversized wheels, I could tell the slight difference from the air going over these wheels differently, you may have a keen ear.

does it do it when your driving or when you brake? I have drill and slotted rotors and it makes the same sound when I stop. More than likely it's the the brake pads going over the drilled holes.
