S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

The CR's other secret compartment.

Default The CR's other secret compartment.

Those of us with a CR know all about this extra compartment. The one I speak of is where the spare tire would have been had it had one.

I've never used the area myself, but I've thought it would make a great area for long term storage of a car cover, cockpit cover or extra detailing supplies. So what have you used this area for? Extra luggage, detailing supplies, contraband (j/k) or do you leave it untouched?

I packed it full of freebies from Enjoy Racing for the CR meet

I think I also fit a pair of shoes and some extra tools in there.

I've always thought about using that area for storage but never have needed to.

I can tell you that a friend of mine with a base S2K once hid his girlfriend's (at the time) engagement ring in that area and then pulled over while we were on the dragon to propose to her

Hauled all my tools, water, luggage, and other stuff so I could load the trunk up with oil bottles, an entire supercharger kit, and my camera equipment.

I always use that space, in fact, I haven't had the panel that goes over there on the car in at least a year. Currently I keep a spare set of rings for my rotors there with a couple brake pad boxed packed on the side and some bottles of oil packed in the back. I put the handles for my jack, my torque wrench, air pump and folding stool on top.

FWIW I picked up this tool set that fits perfectly in the space that the factory tool kit came in down inbetween the mufflers. I have just enough room on either side to wedge in the 2x8s I use as ramps/chalks and enough room in the back to fit some brake fluid bottles down in.

It's great hearing what some of you are using that space for, in fact some of you sound like you need a pickup rather than a CR !

I do have an amplifier there but also used it a lot for storage for the CR meet. Shoes, hardtop corners, paperwork, clothes, food, I crammed everything in there. haha

^^^

Probably great in the rain, but I imagine the motor kind of fell off on the straightaways. Does it have the rear facing seats in the bed?

I think I'm going to try to attach a small rectangular plastic box like the ones from Target as a semi permanent storage for tools, oil filter, cleaning supplies, etc. I will use the tire clamp at the bolt location to hold it in place during my travels with the CR. This way it won't move during drives.
