S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

Default Im now a CR ( Type S ) clone !

Well almost. of course I cannot have the OEM tonneau cover and the aftermarket covers I have seen are damn ugly, but otherwise my AP1 is looking just the way I want her too. Massive shout out to Franks Auto Body in Port Chester NY for top notch work. Ill drive the 45 minutes he is from me to have all my body work done. he is just that good...

Congrats! It's great to see a red version of a CR replica. Now you just have to get the CR rims, CR suspension....lol jk. Nice work.

Looks good man! Type-S clones make a lot of sense since you get most of the CR bits while retaining a soft top.

Thanks for the compliments guys....

As for a full conversion, I don't think so. I do want the CR rims and I plan to have summer tires on the Cr rims and keep the all seasons on the AP1 rims. Does anyone know of a decent tonneu cover that I can use and get painted to match the car. The main one I see on the net is ugly as sin! But I may be missing something...

I wouldn't sweat the tonneau, the japanese Type S doesn't have a tonneau either. But having said that I would install the chassis bracing/suspension/steering upgrades to be a true "Type S" clone.

I would not call it a CR clone unless you have the most instrumental parts that makes a CR/Type S model what it is. Depends on what you want to emulate: driving characteristics or just the looks. Suspension upgrades, Rear brace (if it fits with soft top), the steering rack stiffener, interior fabric, wheels, and the body pieces would all be instrumental for me in truly cloning the CR/Type S models.

Go for a Type S clone and even get the badging from Japan to match. That would be cool. This way you already have all the body pieces. All you need are the wheels, the suspension, Steering Rack stiffener, rear brace, and the interior that you can match up in fabric and such.

Then it will be called a clone. I'm liking your car as it is though. Nice job so far. Red looks good with the aero parts.

The Type-S clone is a good start. To be fully 100% CR is almost cost-prohibitive. Gutting soft-top, rear CR brace, CR seats, etc.. would be overkill. I would say I'm about 80-85% there with my Type-S clone. But I am planning on getting some new aftermarket stuff in the near future that would deviate a bit from this plan.

How about the obvious option: sell your base car and buy a CR! There are several for sale as you can see. Another option buy a salvage CR and use it as a parts car.

BTW- anyone wanting a front CR Lip, Ben at Enjoy Racing has one in stock. Contact him at: enjoyracinginfo@gmail.com.

I don't believe any car is worthy of being called a CR clone until it has the 20 amp accessory socket: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/108...urrent-rating/

(I'm only kidding by the way. I've seen darkfalcon's car and it certainly looks better than my CR.)
