Default Kelly Blue CR Valuation

As CR owners, do you frequently check your CR's market valuation on Kelly Blue, or other sites? How is the value of your CR today versus 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months ago? With my s2000, I like to run a kelly blue valuation every 6 months, or so, and save it. It gives me an idea as to how the appreciation is trending. Curious to hear your thoughts. It feels like the s2000 asking prices are all over the place if one pulls a list in autotrader (especially dealers) Although one can argue that convertibles increase in value in the summer months, it seems that the CRs are in their own category. Curious to hear your perspective.

I have yet to start saving them but I know that mine has maintained and slightly gone up even with putting miles on it.

Great! I noted my AP2 has gone up in value again since 2 weeks ago. But it seems there are some private sellers (who may need to get rid of the car quickly) that are listing below market value. Although values may go through a superficial drop in the winter, I believe summer 2012 values for clean, stock s2000s may be higher than this summer (or at least the same). Granted, I am speculating. I do not think non-stock s2000s will demand the same value (especially CRs)--even those colors highly sought after. Case in point is the 2008 GPW CR dealer-listed in the CR sale section. Although this is only my opinion, buying a modified s2000 may likely turn out to be a bad investment (there are exceptions to this, however).

I believe the valuations of the CR reflect their exclusivity. With only 699 of them they will trend upward quicker than the base S2000. When this upward trend kicks in is anyones guess, but it's only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

I completely agree I wonder if, eventually, the specific CR # will also add a premium. For some reason my gut feeling is that colors won't matter as much to "collectible" buyers of the future (maybe only to the extent that a color is associated with a limited number of CRs made versus personal preference). I see some people jumping on AP Blue today due to a personal preference. However, even less RYPs were made (2nd to GPW).

I didnt buy a CR for a capitol investment, I bought it for the DRIVE. If I was worried about the value, I woulda just kept the cash. That said, Apex Blue Pearl is the RAREST(USDM)of ALL S2Ks

Very true Go2! An appreciating s2000 is an incidental treat. It was made to be driven and bring us joy!

I bought mine to drive as well.

The fact that it holds value is just a plus.

+1. Why keep the low miles for someone else should you decide to let it go, right?
